Today we wandered up the Interstate to Mt Vernon, MO
to Apple Butter Makin' Days!
We got hamburgers & corn on the cob from the FFA booth! Yum
There they are cookin the burgers:
Bought some apple butter from the Lions Club:
Isn't the courthouse on the Square beautiful?
This man was being interviewed by the local tv station.
It takes all day to make the apple butter.
This young man was taking his turn stirring.
Note all that stacked wood for the fire.
there were food booths and craft booths all over the Square and on surrounding streets.
Meanwhile, up north, Jay took his little family to the Hartsburg Pumkin Festival. A little town of about 100 residents hosts this ta doo that brings in about 30,000 visitors!
Our Future Valevictorian had the time of her life!

Wow Shay, I cannot believe how long it's been since I stopped by. I'm going around blogland this morning, before we're off and running again.
Loved all the photos in this post. I see a courthouse I need to add to my collection! The kids, as usual, look like doll babies. I love these kinds of festivals. Zion UCC, here in town, used to make applebutter every fall, outdoors in big kettles. They sold it and served it at their dinners, with homemade bread warm from the oven. Oh My!
Congrats to Jay!
Aww the children look so cute amongst the pumpkins, they are huge (the pumpkins, not the children) Hee Hee! I am in the UK and have a few American visitors who love our buildings and countryside that I show on my blog, but you also have stunning buildings too. Ive seen some beautiful homes and buildings featured on US blogs
These pictures are wonderful. The pumpkins amazing. It makes me remember that I forgot to look for sugar free applebutter the last time I went to a fall festival. Oh well. I love your blog. If you don't mind, I'd like to add you to my blogroll!
