Looks like Spring is just around the corner!


My mom is back in the hospital, pneumonia again. On my way out to the parking lot last night I was startled by something I hadn't seen in months... BLOSSOMS! Will ya look at that? There is hope of Spring! I realize my photography skills are lacking here, but this is what happens when I whip my camera out of my purse and shove it into the middle of the limbs and click. I'm thrilled to have taken a moment to relish the possiblilites of SPRING!

WHO?

This weekend is the debut of the Dr Suess movie "Horton Hears A Who".

This week one of my students told me that IHOP had some menu items to go along with the new movie. Sooooo, my 22 year old baby girl and I took ourselves to IHOP to check it out! I teach Child Development so this was a field trip since my students read Seuss books in my class and Horton sits on my desk!

So LJ ordered the Mayor's Breakfast: Green Eggs & Ham, Hash Browns and a side of Who-Cakes!!! They were quite bright and colorful, and LJ reported that they were YUMMY!

Are Who's fleas?

I didn't taste the Who-Cakes, but I stole a few bites of the Green Eggs. EXCELLENT! Perfect Scrambled Eggs Florentine! I woulda ordered just the eggs had a known.

So next field trip is to check out the new movie! Gotta wait for the grandgirlees!

Changes

SLOW changes!!!!

We have windows EVERYWHERE!

We've been in this new-to-us home for soon-to-be 6 months. We are still living with almost no window coverings. This is a daunting task, to find the appropriate treatments... not to mention pricey. When I need to order a panel, I need 5- 7- 10!!!

Our bedroom is good size but with a very pale paint, is stark and BRIGHT!

I count 15 expanses of naked glass that I need to cover/dress in the living/kitchen/dining area:
I've gotten started in the bedroom. Yes the blinds offer some privacy, but I want to see the water!!! (written in a true whiney tone) So we found some $5 sheers at Big Lots (a great place to start!) and the glare has softened some, but the windows still seem bare. I am searching. I spent over an hour on jcp.com yesterday and found some that weren't going to set me back $1000 by the time I bought enough. BUT BY THE TIME I CHECKED OUT, they were "out of stock" Grrrrrrr!


So the windows look the same as above. Notice the tape around the windows? I painted the bedroom on a snow day, a nice warm tan, I think the name is coffee or mocha or something that would smell good in the morning. I still haven't gotten the edges trimmed in, I'm not tall enough and the ladder we have doesn't go that high. Sigh

We moved in here using some of my mom's furniture. Some of it is her late husband's. This table can seat 8-10 with the leaves in! I've never had a dining area roomy enough for a table that expands that much before.

Shortly after we moved in I saw some great chairs someone had posted on GI. I snapped them up at overstock.com. I plan to make covers in white canvas for summer! They are nice and sturdy and comfortable. I love the whimsy of the upholstery.

And we bought a new bed, also at overstock.com. A real, grown up bed.

We keep making changes. Oh it's neverending. We still have furniture at the other house, which we have NOT put on the market yet because, well, we figure it's futile in this housing market so what's the rush?

Belated Valentine News:

I mailed N some little ponies and sent H these Fisher Price valentine people home with her parents so they could give them to her. She has named the lady Nana, and the fat white haired bald guy Pop! ha ha Sweet Hubby is not white haired (yet) and certainly not bald. He has the thickest head of hair of all of us! But still... funny! (Tif: I need photos of N!!!)

LJ is our youngest and still lives at home as she is finishing college this Spring. She has her father's feet: size 11 (ok, his are 15's, but you know what I mean). So when I found this Valentine's card for her it was perfect!

She was laughing because she has such big feet!

But you must also understand that the entire floor of her closet is filled with shoes.

She did not see this part coming!

For Valentine's Day I had the choir teacher and 2 students from the HS come and sing to my mom at the nursing home. I tried to get the college boys just like last year but they are so much in demand that they wouldn't travel all the way to our town. The teacher is the one in the middle. See if you recognize her from another post!


They brought her flowers and she loved the serenade! They performed in the dining hall so that most of the residents could enjoy as well!

God provided a beautiful sunrise the other morning:

Hokey Pokey

...long distance style!!! H loves to sing songs, especially those with movement and motion (I remind her momma that she "liked to move it, move it" along to the music of "Madagascar" when she was preggers w/the aforementioned girl. I digress. H was singing the hokey pokey in the background the other night while I was talkin' to her daddy. So tonite when she got on the phone with Nana, Nana sang the hokey pokey song while "H" put her right hand, her whole self, her nose and her head "in" and "out" and "shaked it all about". Here she is, listenin' to Nana be silly over the phone just a coupla minutes ago!!!
